Yes To Tomatoes: The solution to acne prone skin?

Yes To Tomatoes: The solution to acne prone skin?

Yes To Clear Skin products

Having acne has always been a big part of my life if I am not trying the latest craze to ban the blemishes, I am constantly judging myself in the mirror. At 23, I am the happiest I've ever been with my skin. Well, for as long as I can remember anyway. The breakouts are a lot less frequent than they've ever been too. Back in 2015, Em Ford from My Pale Skin created a video called 'You Look Disgusting' which was centred around the comments she gets online from posting bare-faced, and I hugely related to Em, as I know what it is like to get these comments, especially at school and throughout my teenage years. But it such a great movement which she has started and I hope this continues for a long time to come.

2018 is the year I truly focused on my skincare routine. As in previous years, I'd use a bit of micellar water, to remove my makeup, spot cream and a moisturiser when I remembered to. I've tried a variety of different routines this year, but so far have found Yes To, to be my favourite. There are so many reasons as to why I favour Yes To over some of the other skincare I've tried. One of the main reasons is because they have full collections of items for each skin concern. I often feel like people with acne have to avoid most products because of what is contained in them. Whereas Yes To for Tomatoes (their acne and blemish range) loves to break the rules.

The pricing is super affordable for Yes To since I have been testing out the range, I've been to re-purchase some of the items including the 2-step nose kit, which I have now used 3 times because I love it so much! Recently Sainsbury's have started to stock some of the range, I know right?! Exciting. So it makes it a lot easier to buy their products, for the ones which are not yet available, Boots is my go to. The nose kit is one of my favourite products they offer as the nose strips really do what they say on the tin and it's so satisfying to feel how amazing your skin feels after using it. The micellar water in the range is in an amazing bottle which is fab for being able to get out the right amount of the product, so less waste and a lot less mess. I have to admit I am not keen on the smell of the micellar water, but then again from what I know, none of them smell great.

2-step nose pore kit Yes To.

The masks in this range are to die for, with so many different varieties on offer it's hard to pick my favourite from them all. I love to use the detox SnapMASK stick, as it's great for easy application, quick drying and you get a lot of uses out of it. I also love the sleeping mask which I have purchased a couple of times, as they are easy again to apply and you just leave them overnight. It doesn't leave any residue behind either, which I was pretty impressed with. The final products I tried out were the face wipes, and although, I am, not a huge face wipe user, they are great to remove the excess makeup off your face before doing a full cleanse.

Overall, from a brand, I have only seen in the states and on Instagram, I am pleasantly surprised. As someone who suffers from acne, I did find the routine to be of benefit to me. I found the most effective products to be the 2-step nose kit and the tomato micellar water, as I quickly noticed a huge improvement after using these products. The prices of the products are reasonable and if you're interested in my skin journey even further, there will be an Instagram post to follow this.

Yes To Tomtatoes Range

Have you ever used any Yes To products?

*This post is in collaboration with Yes To, but all thoughts are my own as always and I am so happy that people are breaking the stigma of acne and skin conditions it rocks.

Getting Better Skin + Creating Face Masks | Beauty

Getting Better Skin + Creating Face Masks | Beauty

Beauty is something that is often featured on Dungarees & Donuts, and I am forever looking for new ways to mix it up and step out side of the box. That is when I discovered a lovely website which is called Real Foods who have an amazing range of natural recipes which are all full of goodness. It was when I was looking around on their site when I saw a fabulous feature about beauty recipes. On there I found some amazing face masks which you can create at home by just including a simple range of ingredients which you probably already have at home. I thought today I would share with you how to create some of the recipes yourself and also a little bit about how I have managed to improve my skin care a LOT over the last year.

I didn't realise the importance of skin care until this year, I have honestly fallen head over heals in love with looking after my skin and finding the best ways to treat your skin and making it better. There is only so much makeup can do, and if you aren't looking after your skin how do you expect it to be well. It's like anything really, without looking after it; it's not going to well looked after. This year I made an attempt to ditch the face wipes, get a proper skin care routine in place as well as treat myself to more pamper sessions. I first decided to completely remove face wipes from my life, even ones with so called benefits and go for a more in depth skin care routine. For this I purchased a pack of cotton pads and a bottle of Micellar water and everyday removed my makeup properly (could not imagine sleeping with it on now, even when I've been drinking!) Next I decided to invest into a skin care routine (I did a post on it here in depth) but the basic outline of it is I invested in a Foreo which is fabulous for a deep cleanse of the skin, it is better than most of the other cleansing brushes as it is silicone and that makes it a cleaner devise all round. Also started using some fabulous skin care from Murad which had dramatically changed my skin around! As well drinking lots more water (I know it's been said so many times, but honestly it's so true) I also try to give my skin a face mask at least once a week, my favourites are from Tony Moly, Superdrug or just making your own. Making your own is fabulous because you get to decide what goes into them and what you want the mask for. I usually look for moisture masks as well as ways to get clear skin.

Some of my favourite recipes that I found on real foods are:

I love this one for the antioxidents which are in Kiwi as well as the exfoliating properties.  It also contains Vitamin A, C, E and K which all have their own fabulous pros these include skin repairing, lightening dark circles and also moisture

Perfect for clearing skin, with a deep clean of the pores and perfect for removing pesky blackheads. A lot of things I've read online about this mask all talk about the healing properties of this mask as well as how good it is for treating acne.

Perfect for reducing dark circles, revitalising the skin and also healing open sores. Cucumber is great for giving your skin a refreshed feeling as well as the rest of your body. Eating, drinking and wearing cucumber gives your body fabulous benefits. Plus it is super healthy as it is mostly water.

I hope you enjoyed this post and will be making some of your own face masks soon!

My Skincare Routine | Beauty

My Skincare Routine | Beauty

Up until around three months ago my skin care routine was none existent, I would cleanse my face in the shower with my magnitone but that was about it. I have always taken off my makeup properly and my acne was still always prominent. When I was with the lovely Hannah back in February we went for a skin consultation at Murad when I was shocked with my results as my skin looked damaged and aged and as well as my dire acne. Whilst visiting Murad the lovely Jemma advised me on which products to try for my acne prone skin, and despite it being £80 for three products and my bank balance crying at the time, I am so happy I invested in the skin care which I did. Plus Jemma threw in a ton of samples. For the first month of using Murad my skin was getting worse, and I was nervous I was allergic to it or it just wasn't working, but as a few friends said your skin needs to get all of the bad stuff out before it can recover and become healthy again. Sure enough they were right two months after starting using the products I noticed my skin was the best it had ever been.

So what is my current skin care routine? I am currently using a blemish clearing solution and a hydrating moisturiser two times a day and every other day I will use my exfoliate and cleanser in the shower along with my newest addiction to my skincare routine is my Foreo which I'll get to in a second. So with the exfoliater all you need to do is tip some of the crystals into your hands and rub together with water which makes a paste which you rub all over your face. Recently since I've added my Foreo into my routine I've found it super easy to cleanse once I've rubbed the cleanser on my face I'll use the Foreo for 15 seconds on both sides to get deeper into the skin and pull out all of the dirt. I've found my skin is even better than it was before with pretty much zero spots for the majority of the month.

As somebody who has tried so many different creams it's crazy that something as creating a skin care routine for myself and drinking more water has made such a massive difference to my skin. My skin feels healthier and looks less red and dry which is something I've suffered with in the past. I've always been pretty wary of the redness of my cheeks so this has made a massive impact on my confidence if nothing else. I just wanted to say before I go that this has not been sponsored or anything like that, this is my own views.

Soap And Glory Skincare | Beauty

Soap And Glory Skincare | Beauty

I've previously done a post on Soap and Glory make-up and it went down so well I decided to do another post based around Soap and Glory but this time on their skincare. For the price their skincare costs it's insanely good and I thought you might all enjoy a bit of a write up on the three products which I've been using as part of my everyday routine. I totally will be trying out more of their face products in the near future so if you fancy me writing about them do let me know.

Soap and Glory Skincare

Dr Spot:
With acne pretty much over both of my cheeks and almost constantly I thought I'd give Dr Spot a go and see what it would do for my skin. For £8 I thought it was worth a gamble on as most spot products cost around that anyways. Using this gel twice for two weeks I've seen great results, the first thing I noticed though was the redness in my spots had gone down dramatically from being seriously red to barely red at all. Dr Spot also took down the sore huge spots and although some of them are still there it totally took away the size of them and removed a lot of the smaller ones, another thing I noticed with this product is that it isn't too drying on the skin, I've found with a lot of spot creams is that they leave my skin sore and dry which almost isn't even worth using the product in the first place but I didn't find this with this product. The only thing I found was the initial stinging when applied but this is very normal as some spots can be open wounds and it is going to sting applying gel to them.

Soap and Glory Dr Spot

Speed Plump Moisturiser:
This last year I've seriously gotten into my skin care and have gone from not doing anything to doing everything which has given me massive confidence in my skin and a lot happier skin too. I have been using a variety of moisturisers from Vichy to Simple and it's hard for me to find one that I get on with well, I often find them irritating my skin more than anything. This comes in at £13.00 a bottle so not super cheap but still a fairly reasonable price as I've paid up to £50.00 in the past, so this is cheap in comparison. The claims are to give you firmer and brighter skin and be fabulous base for makeup so I did test out these claims. After using it twice a day daily for two weeks I have started to see a difference in my skin, it feels softer and looks a lot more healthy which is fabulous for me, along with my massive increase of drinking water I feel a huge improvement. As far as the base goes I won't be giving up my trusty primer but it works to keep foundation in place for a while.

Soap and Glory Speed Pump

The Fab Pore:
I am in love with this product, I have to say it. It works wonders on minimizing your pores especially those who suffer with large ones. It also helps to keep skin less oily and also helps get rid of those pesky spots AND is also a moisturising lotion! A lot for one product right? Costing £12.00 I think it's a great price for those products which are an alternative and cost way more. I am in love with the simplicity of the packaging as it makes you feel clean and also like the product is more expensive than what it is. I didn't notice as many results as the other two but as far as my pores go, they are a lot smaller and it looks a lot better.

Pure Beauty Skin Wishlist | Beauty

Pure Beauty Skin Wishlist | Beauty

Some of you may be aware I've recently branched out into skincare a lot more and taking a lot better care of my skin after I keep suffering with bad acne. I took the time to read up on different products which may help improve my skin as well as make me feel better in myself. I decided today I would bring you a wishlist of my top 3 skin care wants from Pure Beauty, if you haven't heard of Pure Beauty you can view their site here and they sell all things Dermologica, from face cleansers to eye treatments. I think people forget how important skin care really is, and I am definitely guilty of this.

Daytime Acne Treatment:
Despite not being a teenager myself, from what the product offers I think it is the perfect product to keep my acne at bay. It is a simple application in the form of a moisturiser and it helps to keep the clean and ready to fight against acne.

Clay Cleanser:
Since recently visiting The Body Shop and being told about a body clay, I am determined to try one for my face, due to how soft and in good condition it left my body. I think clay is great as it pulls all of the bad stuff out of your skin in the form of a cleanser and then you are able to give your face a deeper clean leaving you feeling a lot fresher and nicer. It's also perfect for removing all of the excess oil from your skin which I definitely need help with.

Exfoliating Body Scrub:
I am all about exfoliating my face, but it's not something I have to admit I have done to my body much, which I should start doing more as it's key to get rid of dead skin and leave your skin in a better condition, it leaves you skin feeling a lot clear and removes all of the nasty things which lay on the surface of your skin.
