Tips and tricks for a bedroom makeover with (next to) no effort.

Tips and tricks for a bedroom makeover with (next to) no effort.

If you follow my Twitter, some of you may know I've recently moved house (last week), and getting everything in order can be a pain, however, new house usually means new homewares. As I know I have quite a big student following, I decided it would be cool to share with you some new bits I picked up which I am in love with, as well as some of my own hacks to transform your university accommodation with next to no effort.

Shelves and drawers:
Not all accommodation will allow shelves which is annoying as they're a great way to store things and they usually look great too. I spend the majority of my life using plastic drawers for just about anything for the ease of them. They're usually quite compact so fit anywhere and can be purchased for around £10. When I do have shelves, I love to put cute items on them such as ornaments or books. Currently, I am using a bookcase to store all of my books, as well as my perfumes and trinkets which I think looks cute.

Lights:
Dependant on whether you are going to be in halls or a student house, the variations of the room can make a huge difference. But I have previously lived in a student house and it was pretty easy to make it homely. I am in love with fairy lights and put them all over the room as they're cheap, easy to put up and usually battery powered and last for ages.

Bedding:
If you follow my Instagram you'll know I am obsessed with duvet covers and buy them all of the time. I think they might a huge difference to a room and love to change them up with the season. I think the brighter duvets are great for bringing some extra colour into your room as most student accommodation has magnolia walls and they can be a *little* boring. The bedding pictured above is from Dunelm and is awesome as it is reversible so you can mix and match what side you have it on. Asda also always have fabulous duvet covers in their stores and these are also reversible.

The walls:
Now, this can be the tricky one dependant on the rules of where you live, I know my landlord was always chill with what we put up. I think for those who aren't allowed to hang up frames or mirrors, I'd recommend going down the poster route. You can get great posters and they always fill up some of the boring wall space. For those who have fewer limitations, I'd recommend a mirror on the wall, to me having a mirror on the wall makes the room feel bigger and it's always great to do your makeup in. I also found this adorable clock notice board from Dunelm which I think works well in your room or if you're living in a shared house it would make an amazing addition to your front room as you can write down notes about meals or chores etc, and it also has a clock on it which of course is always handy and 4 clips which could allow you to hang up pics of who is in the house.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments where your favourite place to get homeware from is!

Making Your Home Spring Ready.

Making Your Home Spring Ready.

The days are getting warmer and I am so excited as it's nearly Spring! Goodbye Winter for another year, yay! Spring and Summer are my favourite seasons of the year as I love all things colourful, happy and the warm (ish) weather (living in England, I can hope right?). With Spring on the way I decided I'd bring you a Spring homeware wishlist, followed by some Spring shop my style posts. Since living in my own house, I am obsessed with buying cute little homeware pieces and with it being Spring I've decided to create a wishlist of things which will makeover your house for Spring and on a budget too.

Lionshome have some gorgeous pieces of Spring homeware from lots of different sites as they are an online shopping portal. The awesome thing about Lionshome is that you can find a variety of different items and then decide your favourites before going on to the webpage to purchase. Being able to search such a wide variety of sites at once makes it easier when looking for a certain item.

Egg Cups:
Egg cups are the perfect way to make your kitchen more suited to the season, I love being able to change them throughout the year, they're a cheap and easy way to make a difference. Especially around spring as they are so dainty and cute. You can purchase the bunny one from Tesco and the fox one from Havens.

Jars:
Jars are an adorable way to make your house look prettier and you can customise them however you want. Pinterest has some awesome ideas to create your own pretty Spring jars. If you fancy looking at some ideas, you can do here.

Bedding:
Bedding is another easy way to mix up your style for seasons, you can purchase a variety of different duvet covers which is perfect for being able to change your bedding quickly as well as using different ones to suit your moods. I love floral bedding around summer as they can brighten up a room as well as look gorgeous. Argos, Dunelm and The Range are all great places to pick up bedding from. The bedding pictured is from Argos.

Candles:
Candles are the perfect way to transition your house from Winter to Spring, picking the perfect floral and fruity scents instantly boosts your mood and as well giving your house that extra Spring feeling. Yankee candle have so many varieties and sizes of candles to decorate your house.

Furniture:
Treating yourself to some new furniture can often give your home a whole new feel. Oak Furniture Company offer everything from beautiful bed side drawers to gorgeous storage boxes (perfect for us bloggers!) Often a little change in a room can make a massive difference, I know when I got my new bed it gave my room a whole new feel.

How do you transition your house for seasons?

#BedMakeover with Bed Guru | Home

#BedMakeover with Bed Guru | Home

I was recently another fabulous and fun challenge from the lovely Bed Guru, this time I was set to give my bed some sort of a make over and it can be any part of the bed. The idea behind the campaign is to share what a difference a change to your bed, Bed Guru recommend adding one of their amazing headboards to your bed to give it a bit of a make over from a variety of colours and feels it's a worth while investment and when I move I will totally invest in one myself! With a budget I went on my way with an idea in mind of how I can make my bed feel so much better and refreshed, my idea was to add some amazing cushions to the bed and I had seen the perfect ones in Matalan.

The pillows I had seen a few weeks before when shopping with my mum but I wasn't able to get them as they only had the & and neither of the other letters I wanted. I decided to get myself an O pillow and Luke L pillow for our sides of the bed. I would of bought a new bed cover if I hadn't purchased loads a few weeks ago. I am loving the look of the cushions with my bedding and it just makes the bed feel more relaxing and it looks great when you go to get into it at night as opposed to the boring old pillows which lay underneath. I can't wait to move as I plan on putting fairy lights around the bed and also having my own bed side table with a cute draw and a place to store my books!

Thank you Bed Guru for another amazing challenge and if you missed the last one be sure to check it out here! Also feel free to let me know any tips you have come across for making over your bed/room on a budget!
