Top 5 Lipsticks Under £5

This is a series of posts I've wanted to write for you guys for a while now, just haven't got round to writing them up but I finally have and I decided to a bit of a bargain hunt for these posts and put together a post on my favourites under a fiver- starting with lipstick. In my opinion these lipsticks are great for their price tag, and there is nothing wrong with make-up on a lower budget! Just to let you know I will be doing the post on the lipsticks themselves not the shades.

Seventeen Stay Pout: This is one of my all time favourite lipsticks, for £4.49 I can't believe how good quality the lipsticks are they come up there with the best, the lipsticks are glossy and have a long time coverage which is a winner when I am looking for a lipstick! If you've never tried seventeen go down to your local boots and pick one of these up now.

Collection: Little Mix Lipsticks:
Collection has always been a go to brand for me as it's been around all the time I've worn make-up and when you're 14 you are on a small budget for your make-up, so collection has always been a winner with me, I recently read about the little mix lipsticks and I had more hope for them than the one direction make-up as it might actual of have had some input by little mix. They cost £2.49 and for a lipstick that is a fabulous price, they are definitely worth the money, some people may not buy them due to the little mix label.

Barry M Lip Paint:
So everyone has heard of Barry M, it's mostly known for it's bright nail varnishes, which I will be talking about in my nail varnish post, I'm not sure when they made their own lipsticks, but I bought myself one when buying some for my lovely American friend Ami, and I was pleasantly surprised. The lip paints are £4.49 and well worth every penny they have so many shades to choose from, they don't last as long as some lipsticks but the colour is vibrant!

Miss Sporty Perfect Colour:
Another lipstick for £2.59 and this is the miss sporty perfect colour lipstick, there are less shades to choose from than the others and most of them are quite neutral, but it is still a fab lipstick once again can't argue with the price, they don't last as long as other lipsticks but once again the colour is a good colour and they are glossy and leave your lips feeling moisturised!

Collection Deluxe Lipstick:
This lipstick is great because it is enriched with Shea butter and vitamin E which makes it a great moisturiser as well as a lipstick, these lipsticks come in great colours so many bright and vibrant shades to choose from and it has a long lasting power *hurrah* and the price tag makes it all that better at £2.99 a great price for a lipstick on a budget!

Would you buy any of the lipsticks I've wrote about in my post?

Winter to Spring!

Hello everyone! I'm Kayla from Microscope Beauty and am really excited to be guest posting for Jess! If the UK is anything like Michigan right now, it's downright cold. However spring is just around the corner! Here are a few polishes that will work well during that transitional period from winter to spring.

Essie's "Damsel in a Dress" ($8.50) is your classic deep plum shade that's perfect for the winter months, but as the weather gets warmer I still can see myself wearing it as it's just a lovely, attention-getting color. On the other end of the spectrum is Sally Hansen's "Jaded" ($7.99), your typical spring pastel shade. I for one love wearing colors like soft light blues in the winter as it makes me feel like a snow queen or one with the weather. It'll be a great color to welcome in warmer days. Rimmel's "Steel Grey" ($3.99) touches on the cooler tones of winter but also has lovely lilac notes that promise spring is just around the corner. This is my personal favorite of the bunch as it's an amazing formula with a nice brush.

Next up is China Glaze's "Re-Fresh Mint" ($7.50). I'm a sucker for mint. I'd find a way to wear it all year round if I had to. It's on the cooler side which makes it a perfect contender for the winter months, but will transition easily into the early spring months. Finally, Essie's "Vested Interest" ($8.50) reminds me of denim shorts and showing some skin after a bundled up winter. It still has my go-to cool blue tone that I gravitate towards in the winter though. The perfect transition shades.

What nail polishes do you wear during the transition period from winter to spring?

Be sure to stop by my blog and say hi!

xoxo Kayla

Products I need to use more!

I saw this post on Beths blog and I decided I would make my own version on photoshop! I do own all of the products in the picture, I just fancied a change from taking pictures and decided to edit one instead!

The products in this post are:
Eyes lips face Matte Lipstick
Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara
Barry M Nail Varnish
Benefit Porefessional
Lady Gaga Fame Perfume
Collection Pressed Powder
Apocalips

All of the products in the picture above have been used only once or a few times which is shocking considering how many there is in the picture! Firstly I haven't used the E.L.F lipstick much because I own so many bright and bold ones and this is more of a plain pink shade, nothing to do with the lipstick itself! The Rocket Mascara, is simply the fact it doesn't make my lashes as big as I like them to be, I have to use 3 or 4 mascaras on top to make it work at all! Barry M Nail Paint, all of the shades I own are pastel colours which aren't suitable for this time of year, so they will come into use more than just on my toes around spring! Benefit porefessional, I've found a better product on the similar lines it's a lot cheaper and I actually feel works a lot better so this one has been sidelined a little, do need to use it once my other runs out! Lady Gaga Fame, I do own so many perfumes and I really need to use this one more it smells so gorgeous and I love it, but with all of the new perfumes I keep getting and the samples from my advent calender I pretty much forget about this one! Collection pressed powder for some reason I have three of these, but they all seem to be unused, I am not sure why this is but I used one the other day and it is really good, so I need to start using it and get through all of the pressed powder! Finally the apocalips, I own two of these I do love both the of the colours but I've found that it doesn't really stay on my lips and with so many other products that I have it just doesn't seem worth it!

Mac Lipstick Review

It has finally happened I finally got a mac lipstick, I have been wanting since I became a blogger, everyone hypes about them and now it's my turn! For a birthday present I received the shade Ruby Woo which is the perfect shade for me, I love red lipsticks I own so many! Mac lipstick is quite different to any other I've tried, I found the lipstick a little difficult to apply, so on the second time of wearing it I decided to put a clear lip balm on and it glided on, once it was applied it stayed on all day long, finally a lipstick which does this! The colour stayed bright and it is a lovely shade of red, for all you lovers of red lipstick this is one you need in your collection for sure- it's the classic red that every girl needs in their collection It sounds quite silly but it just feels great to have an expensive lipstick in my collection and I love looking at the packaging as it just looks premium, I can tell MAC is going to be on going love affair of mine.

You can never have too many lipsticks right?

A bakers tool kit #1

It's been such a long time since I've written a post about baking, although it is my favourite hobby other than blogging, I am obsessed with making sweet treats and over the last few months I've received lots of fantastic bits and pieces to make my goodies look a bit more professional! Whilst taking the photos for this I decided I could make it into a little sequel of posts, the first one being "A bakers tool kit for cupcakes" So what do I recommend for cupcakes?

Cute Cases:
You can make the nicest cupcakes in the world, but they won't look complete without being in a nice case, I have at least 400 cupcake cases thanks to my friends and family over the last few months, but these are by far my favourites! Gives them a little girlie touch, who doesn't love pink cupcake cases hey?
Piping Bags
I can't believe I used to use a knife to put the buttercream on the cakes, how wrong was I? I have recently discovered the duo piping bag, the best thing ever, you can make your buttercream two colours and it comes through in swirls, it looks fabulous (will upload a picture of some of my creations, soon.)
Nozzles
Every baker needs their own set of trusty nozzles, you can put them in your pipping bags to make it easier to ice, you can get so many different nozzles of any shapes and sizes, makes it so much easier for it to come and look professional (that's all what we want isn't it?!) I own about 30 nozzles, always getting new ones!
Food Colourings
You can so many bright and pretty colours, rose pink and ice blue are my favourite colours from the collection, I recommend buying concentrate colours as they last so much longer and make the colours much brighter and the price isn't that much more expensive (Get your colours from here)
Baking Tray
If you are looking to buy one, they do come under muffin tray and these are better than the smaller ones you can get for fairy cakes as it helps them to rise better and the cupcakes won't take over the baking tray like they can do with smaller ones! Splash out on an expensive tray, it does the job and will last you years and they are also easier to clean!

A little absence/Birthday Haul!

I'm back, some of may of noticed that I haven't posted a new post in almost a week, this may not be long for some people but as I try to post nearly everyday it feels like forever for me, I do have my reasons though! As it was my birthday on monday, I visited family over the weekend- with no wifi! Had a super busy day on my birthday organizing my room as I got new furniture woohoo, and then on tuesday night I went out on the town and couldn't even face to leave my bed yesterday (we've all done it right?) But here today I am back to get back into blogging properly as I haven't had chance just to sit and blog for weeks with Christmas and University deadlines! So on to the birthday haul, I'd just like to point I am not bragging in any way shape or form I am simply just showing you what I got and I was a very happy girlie with my lovely gifts!

What I received for my birthday:
A lot of cupcake decorating gift sets, a naked basics palette, the soap and glory girl-o-whirl set, some mini perfumes, a nikon cool pix camera!, some body shop goodies, a mac lipstick and lipgloss, a new bed, no7 favourites, 19 scratch cards, Taylor Swift perfume and some nail varnish!

I was super excited when I opened these gifts, some of them I was pretty aware of already, like the bed and I had a little bit of a clue that my Uncle and Auntie were getting me MAC make-up and they picked the perfect coloured lip gloss and lipstick, I will be putting a full review up of them soon so look out for that, I am obsessed with making cupcakes and my boyfriend and his mum both bought me sets and cases to put all my cupcakes in my, I warn my uni class I will be plying them with cupcakes all year long! The naked basics pallette is something i've wanted for months but haven't got around to buying it and my other Auntie gave me money so I finally purchased it and the colours and fab, they go on so well and look great, and you guessed it, a review will be up on this soon also! The body shop lipsticks are something that I haven't tried before these ones and they're fantastic quality, so smooth, love love them. Finally the camera, I bought myself a little lighting studio for Christmas, but although my phone takes amazing quality pictures you can't get a tripod for it, so he bought me a camera! He is so lovely and I appreciate it so much!

Hope you enjoyed reading my little haul, video will be up on youtube soon!

An extra special touch!

When Baker Days emailed me saying they were promoting their letter box cakes and were going to send me one out I was thrilled I have been wanting to work with them for ages, and I finally got my chance, they told me I could pick one of their many designs or send them an image of my own and have it put on a cake, and I jumped at the chance to have my own design on the cake as I make my blog headers I thought it would make it that bit more special! So I sent them my new header and couldn't believe it when it arrived in the post 24 hours later (such a good service!) I couldn't wait to get into the box and try some, but being the good blogger I am, I waited until I got some light and took pictures first! So here is my beautiful cake:

My cake is a letter box cake, which is exactly what it says, it fits through your letter box, it comes in such a lovely tin with some balloons, candles and a party horn which I thought was so cute! On the cake I think my design really comes to life and they've done a great job with the way they've placed it on the cake! So on to the taste of cake, I fell in love on the first mouthful! The cake is a Madeira and is so fluffy and light, (I've had a few more pieces since the picture was taken!) it's pretty addictive, but I did give some to my sister who had the same reaction as me. It definitely tastes as good as it looks! If you are looking for a cake, I would recommend you try baker days as they have cakes for pretty much any occasion and you can add that extra special touch to them with a name. The best part about letter box cakes are they can be an amazing surprise send them to a friend when they're down and they won't have a clue what it is!
& Thank you so much for the cake baker days!

Bourjois Ultra Curl Mascara!

I am one of those girls who needs a mascara brush with a curve in, no matter how many mascaras I try, no matter what they claim to do, I don't think any mascara looks as big and bold as one which has been applied with a curved brush; probably just the way that I apply it! But this mascara is one of the best I've had for such a long time the only other mascara which comes close is my miss sporty one, with the curved brush, but I think this mascara is a lot better quality probably as it's more expensive, but it gives my eyes a big bold look as if they've been done with eye lash curlers first or I even get asked if I am wearing fake ones and it makes me really happy to say no, because I am able to create such a lash look with just a mascara, who doesn't love a bit of mascara hey? It also waterproof, so when you're having a bad day you're safe from those panda eyes. Yipee!  I would recommend this to anybody looking for a good reliable mascara, Bourjois has your back! Product Rating: 10/10 and it's not often that I will give a product that high of a mark!

Non Aerosol Hair Spray!

In Decembers Birch Box I received this non aerosol hair spray by d'automne and I fell in love, I didn't even know you could get non aerosol hair spray (probably a very naive thing on my part) but it's great for me one because I asthma and I pretty much give myself an attack when I do my hair, so this works quite well and also you can spray it anywhere without getting dirty looks e.g. the bus! The product itself is great, it works as well as any other hair spray, still has that hair spray smell that we all secretly love (you know it) and the sample size is great for my bag! I didn't think it would hold as well as a normal hair spray, but it actually does one of the best things I've got from a beauty box so far, will be treating myself to the full size sometime too! Product Rating: 9/10.

2014, Nice to meet you.

It's a new year, and we all know what the means, resolutions which last about three weeks at most and I know this for a fact, every year I set myself the same resolutions to loose weight and exercise and within three weeks, I find myself back to the cake and catching the bus, you start the year with this whole "new" mind set, thinking yes it's a new year I'll definitely stick to them this year, and there's a reason why we don't, we set ourselves too big resolutions and that's why we always fail! So this year I've done something a little different and decided to keep them a bit smaller and break it down rather than just loose weight, it'll be cut out the sweets almost everyday and eventually I hope to of cut back completely. Same with the exercise, walk if I can but getting the bus every now and again doesn't mean I've failed. I have decided to set myself some blogging goals for 2014. I am setting myself the biggest challenge and I asking for a lot but when I was sat thinking of how many followers I'd ideally like to achieve by the end of the year and the honest answer is 1000, and some of you may think that's not possible and it might not be, but I can hope that my blog is good enough to reach that number 12 months, do you think I can do it? Second blogging goal is to do a lot more reviews of products I received so many products at Christmas and I've also ordered a home photo studio to take pictures for days like this *it's raining outside* also considering I am hardly at home when there is any light it'll take me through to those summers days when the light is good again! Goal 3, I filmed a video in the beginning of December and I am yet to edit it, which is dreadful considering my University course features a big element on editing! But I will get my Youtube channel up and running and I will be vlogging as well as blogging in no time, and I hope people actually want to watch my videos- be prepared to laugh they are probably terrible! But I plan to have my first video this or that up by my 19th birthday in 12 days! My fourth goal will be to do an OFTD post, if you read my blog regularly you will know I have never featured my face or my body on my blog whatsoever and there is reason for this, I am incredibly body conscious and the though of taking a picture of me and putting out there for everyone to see makes me feel sick! But I hope this year will be the year when I take the plunge to do an outfit of the day post! My fifth and final goal is to just keep dungarees & donuts a blog which people enjoy reading and like coming back to every now and again to have a little read of my posts.

What do you think of my blogging goals, are they reachable?
