Red Carpet Inspired Look!

Last year one of my best friends entered the new look Christmas competition and said she had great fun creating her outfit and it turned out she actually won the competition! I love making outfit posts and when new look emailed me asking me to take part I couldn't wait to get started, this years competition was to recreate your favorite red carpet look from this year using new looks party collection. My favourite by far was Taylor Swifts outfit at the BRITS, it's an elegant look and I think Taylor looks stunning! Her dress was created by Elie Saab and it's a different look to what we are used to seeing Taylor in as she looks much more grown up! Here is my outfit choices:

Dress:  The dress I picked is very similar to the one Taylor is wearing, the gold belt on the dress is similar to the one on her dress which gives it the added touch of the black styled dress she is wearing, the dress which is featured in my post, also has a slit which on her dress she has panels of mesh which looks similar!
Ring- I picked this ring because the gem in this ring looks similar to the one she is wearing, it gives the same effect, I didn't want to pick a ring which was huge and stood out massively because hers doesn't it and I think it looks fabulous and gives an added touch to the outfit.
Bag- Although we don't see a bag in the pictures, I chose to add this particular clutch to the outfit because the straight bit of gold on the bag matches her belt and also the studs on the bag are triangular, definitely a must have with this outfit!

Shoes- In hardly any of the pictures taken at the BRITS you can't see Taylors' shoes but in one of the pictures you can slightly see that she is wearing a strapy peep toe shoe, which I think goes with this outfit although you can't really see it, in my opinion it gives a great effect!
Cuff- I love these Cuffs, they look great and I think it just gives an added effect to the outfit so the arms aren't bare, she is wearing a cuff herself, and I wanted to make it as similar as possible!
Earrings- The earrings are great because with the hair tied back it gives a more sophisticated look and ties in with the bag, I love dangley earrings (although sometimes they can look cheap) but in my opinion these look great and add to the outfit, rather than take away!

I decided not to have a necklace with this outfit because of the way that the dress is, and if you are wearing too much jewellery in my opinion it looks tacky, which is not the thing I want when I am trying to create a red carpet look as they are (mostly) glamourous! Also because Taylor isn't wearing a necklace herself!

Ciate- Mistress Review

I am addicted to buying things from blog sales at the moment as they are pretty much new items sold at low prices, I mostly buy nail varnishes which cost a bomb elsewhere, and recently stumbled on a blog sale and the girl was selling a ciatè nail varnish for £1 i've always wanted to try ciatè but it retails around £9.00 and as I can't really wear nail varnish that often due to to work, I wouldn't pay that! But yesterday I was thrilled when it arrived in the post like it was brand new! So what was my opinion may you ask? First lets start with the packaging, it's in gorgeous packaging the bottle is different to the normal shape which I like and the bow is super cute! So thumbs up as far as that goes; on to the nail varnish itself I was quite disappointed due to the fact it took 4 coats to make it look quite bold and it looks a completely different colour in the bottle to what comes out on the nails it comes out more orange and I was expecting a red. Obviously the fake nails can't test how long it lasts for so i'll have to let you know on that one when I can actually wear it on my own nails (over christmas!) But as far as getting it for a pound goes, I can't really complain- I am considering buying the colour "3am girl" which is a deep blue and it looks really bold and a statement polish, who doesn't love statement nails! I'll probably as a birthday treat for myself in the near future. But overall I give this colour a 6/10, but I won't let it put me off trying Ciatè in the future!

What Ciatè shades have you got?

The World Of Stationary!

Everyone who knows me knows that I love stationary, I own a countless supply of notebooks, coloured pens, brightly coloured cardboard, envelops and pencils; literally could open my own stationary shop! Spending countless hours looking for pretty little notebooks and other stuff to add to my ever growing collection there are 3 sites I am always on when looking for stationary, Paperchase, Paperstone and Whsmiths, they all offer a great collection of stationary! So Paperchase is my favourite for their huge selection of super cute notebooks, and I do love a good notebook they're all bright colours and so lovely and great for gifts, they are a little pricey compared to other places but still worth every penny in my opinion! Paperstone is fantastic for their huge section of office supplies, and they're really good value for money! Being somebody who is obsessed with highlighters and keeping organized they have some amazing day to day diaries perfect as 2014 is just around the corner! When I next come into some money i'll be treating myself to a diary from there! Finally is Whsmiths most of you will of heard of them already as they are a high street chain, I am constantly popping in there for cards but like paperchase offer a huge range of lovely notebooks and folders, being a university student- I am always popping in there to buy a new folder or pens as I am constantly running out (or loosing them!) definitely the best shop on the high street for all your stationary needs. Like I said at the start of this post for all those stationary loving friends and family I would recommend buying your gifts from here, I mean who doesn't love to receive a huge bundle of stationary goodies, I know I would!

Snail Mail!

I love doing box swaps (which blogger doesn't?) and when I came across "snail mail" the way to meet new friends around the world I was super excited and signed up straight away! I got paired with Daniel and although he is from the UK he has Nigerian roots and he speaks many different languages! I feel sorry for him being paired up with boring little me, but we actually had a great chat over email for a few weeks, it was super fun and he is really lovely- we talked about pretty much everything from music to our families! This months theme was gratitude and it was around the same time as the disaster in the Philippines so we were talking about how we were grateful for where we live and how we have a roof over our heads etc and it was really nice! And finally the swap came to an end *sad face* and we sent our gifts to each other *happy face* I sent Daniel a Christmas card, some chocolate santas and music notebook- not as near as good as his! Here is what he sent me:

Lets start with the "born lippy" from the body shop, I thought it was really nice that he read my blog and learnt what I liked and went and bought this! I really like body shop items and I am currently wearing it!
The lollypop from Starbucks I'd say that lasted just long enough for me to take these pictures before I demolished it yummy!  The postcard from london he's so lucky he lives in London you can get post cards and little gifts easy I couldn't imagine there's a postcard of Stafford! How boring!  Mini Notebook I love notebooks so much so I own 20, I am not even joking- this one is special though as it has a lovely quote on the front and as it's small it will be great for storing my blog ideas in when i'm out and about! Guitar Pick I used to play when I was younger which reminded me of then I might even pick my guitar back up sometime, might need a bit of tuning first? haha! and finally the letter and christmas card really nice to read and made me smile so thanks Dan! (If you're reading this) I'd recommend the snail mail collective to anybody who loves box swaps and getting to know new people!

How to make an awesome pancake stack!

So I decided for lunch I would treat myself to some pancakes, totally unhealthy but so yummy! I posted a picture on twitter and a few people liked it so I thought I would tell you how to make your own! Mine are slightly large because I made them in a wok!

You will need:
1 Tablespoon of baking powder
1 Tablespoon of sugar
2 Eggs
300 ml of milk
225g of plain flour
30g of butter melted!
A wok
A Ladle.

Add all the ingredients into a bowl and whisk until there are no lumps
Following this warm up the stove and add the butter for frying
Add about 3/4 of a ladles worth of mixture into the centre of the pan/wok
When cooking the pancakes as soon it is no longer stuck to the pan flip it over to the other side it is important that you remember to do this else they will burn. This will take roughly about 1 minute.
Keep the oven at a low temp and put them in there as they are cooked to eat all together
Top with butter/ice cream/ maple syrup/golden syrup/chocolate sauce.
ENJOY!

Halloween Costume Ideas #4

1. Ghost Pirate- This outfit is pretty cool, I also love the dress on this one, and it would be fun to do all the make-up for this, overall a great outfit!
2. Ghost Bride- I love this dress it is so stunning, the whole outfit is just elegant and pretty- I get that Halloween is supposed to be scary, but I totally love this!
3. This is what came up when I typed in ghost i'm guessing the mask she has in her hand would go over your face? It's a simple easy outfit- you could probably recreate your own! Still not very scary though huh?
4. Pacman Ghost- I could not resist putting this in here? I mean come on who doesn't want to be a pacman ghost- and it gets better you can get them in all colours! How great is that?
5. Traditional ghost- It doesn't get any better and cheaper than putting a sheet over your head and cutting holes where the eyes are! It's not very fashionable but it's definitely fun!

I would LOVE to know which ghost would you be?

Halloween themed cookies!

So firstly I shall apologise for the awful quality of the picture I am going to post along with this post, but hey ho. Last year for halloween I was invited to one of my best friends parties and she asked as all to bring food along, and me being me decided to spend the best part of a day making some Halloween themed biscuits: So firstly you pick your biscuit- gingerbread and shortbread are a good option because they are easy to make into shapes, I picked short bread so here is a recipe to make your own. I recommend making the short bread into circles with a cutter as they are easier to decorate later. Once the short bread is made and cooled you need some ready to roll icing any colour is good but I picked white I was originally making the nightmare before Christmas themed cookies as my best friend loves that film and it was who she was dressing up as! Also cut the icing into circles place a circle on top the of biscuit then you will need some squeeze icing which you can buy from here any colours you wish but I would recommend having black, orange and red as they are the most easy colours to work with. For ideas to decorate your biscuits I just typed in Halloween cookies and theirs turned out a lot better than mine but it's all about the fun!

My awful version of the Halloween Cookies.
Hello Sweetie!

The Autumn Tag

Favourite thing about Autumn?
The leaves falling from the trees, being a media student I love to film everything and the other day I was just thinking how much of a great time lapse it would be- so simple but yet great! The fact that it's too hot like summer or too cold like winter, bit of both!

Favourite drink?
I don't really have a favourite autumn drink? I think warm lemonade fits more into a winter tag? Same with hot chocolate.

Favourite scent/candle?
Yankee Candle- Honey blossom this candle is so amazing I need another one in my life damn, and I love the fact that the candle itself is an autumn-y colour.

Best lipstick?
I have two favourites- my soap and glory the missing pink its a very light pink shade and looks fabulous in any season in my opinion it just gives your lips a nice shade of pink or Kate Moss 01 Red, I think red is a great statement lipstick with any outfit, Stand out.

Go-to moisturiser?
The Garnier moisture match for dry skin, my skin always gets so dry starting around this time it's awful so I moisturise my face about 10 times a day.

Go-to colour for the eyes?
I always go for dark purples and greys when I wear eyeshadow because the colours go best with eyes, I do not suit bright colours or black it looks awful.

Favourite music to listen to?
I love slow music, I've always loved the fray I like to sit inside when it's cold outside and just listen to the fray *as I am doing now* I am also in love with Birdy and her new song Wings. And unpopular opinion right now wrecking ball by Miley Cyrus, blah blah she's a whore, whatever. But damn the girl can sing.

Favourite outfit to wear?
It's finally acceptable to wear massive jumpers and jeans, much prefer autumn and winter for this, I hate showing flesh, would much rather cover it. Or a nice dress with some tights and a cardigan, cute.

Autumn treat?
Another  massive jumper as I only own one and I think I need at least 3 to see me through the cold weather and to wear whilst i'm washing the others! But not for a while as I have no money atm. SPENDING BAN.

Favourite place to be?
I have a few, but in this weather inside. So my house or my boyfriends or maybe even uni... yes i'm sad but I love uni it's so fun!

I tag:
Everyone who hasn't already done it! Hehe

Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game.

Many of you may know the quote in the title of the post is from the film a Cinderella story and it is a quote that Sam the main character lives her life by, anyway enough of that I decided this post would be about all the inspirational quotes that help me continue to live everyday and keep a smile on my face even on the toughest of days: I would love to know what quotes inspire you and if any of these did!

*Disclaimer these images are not mine and do not belong to me they are just images that I found online that I liked*

Tangle Attack.

When browsing the internet a while back I came across the "tangle teezer" which at most places is around the ten pound mark, I considered buying it as my hair is thick and gets very knotty until I came across a post on the tangle attack- poundland had made their own version and which is obviously a pound, it looks the same as the tangle attack but around £9.00 cheaper, as I do not know how good the tangle teezer is I can't compare the two but from using the Tangle Attack for several weeks I found it to be great it removes the knots instantly without hurting and it fits into my bag great and has a cover on to stop any bits getting into it, although I'm sure the tangle teezer probably is a lot better and looks like a more expensive product I am perfectly happy with mine and the fact it cost a POUND is a bonus, there is only one downside to the tangle attack the packaging is pretty awful it's in bright flowery packaging- but it's a good thing that is only the box and does not reflect the product inside- I'm so glad I decided to buy one I mean even if it was the worst brush in the world it was only a pound afterall, but I am so pleased with the results and I think everybody needs a tangle attack in their life!

Confessions of a shopaholic tag

I was look for some inspiration for today's blog post and I came across Hannah's blog where I found the confessions of a shopaholic tag and decided I would share my own shopping secrets with you fellow bloggers so here goes! At the end you should tag ten other bloggers to have take part!

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?
 - I guess so? Considering I usually always run out of money due to the fact I spend so much on clothes- but only when I go out of my town as it's pretty rubbish but for the last three months I have been to Birmingham and Wolverhampton a blew a lot of wonga on clothes!

2. How Would you classify your style? - I'd say my style isn't the typical in fashion style? I like the darker "alternative" clothes, I wear doc martens with pretty much anything- leather jackets are fabulous, I love checked shirts with skinny jeans. I also like quite weird t-shirts my last "unique!" tee feature snow white in stocking showing her bum(my nan wasn't as impressed as me) and I wear my dresses with converse because that's just who I am? I'm different.

3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing? - I'm pretty sure a lot of people have the same answer as me for this one, PRIMARK- it is actually impossible to go in there without spending a single bit of money whether it's their earrings, knickers or cute socks it has to be done, recently I have bought 5 sets of pj's from there it just has to be done.

4. Where do you find the best deals? - I guess the same answer as above? Primark are the cheapest shop for great items I mean where else can you buy a whole outfit for under 20 quid including shoes?

5. Do you have a "go to" shopping outfit? - No I don't I usually wear something comfy on my feet though considering doc martens don't quite fit the bill for walking around for hours on end.

6.What is your guilty pleasure? (not including beauty products) - Socks it's got to be I cannot go into a shop which has cute socks in and not buy a pair- last weekend I spent 6 quid on socks in forever 21 alone. But come on who doesn't love socks with little rainbows on?

7. What is one staple clothing piece you can't live without?
 - My leather jacket, in my opinion you can wear a leather jacket for any occasion you can wear it with a dress to go out or just when you're going shopping- anything goes with a leather jacket, except maybe the boiling sun- wouldn't recommend that.

 8. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style? - Do Doc Martens count? i'm not even sure they're in style? But I wear them with pretty much anything and I think they complete an outfit.

9. What trend did you love that passed away too quickly? - I'm not the sort of person who cares about is in fashion- my style reflects me- simple. But I did dip dye my hair before it become cool to do so.

10. Who is your fashion icon? - I LOVE Zooey Deschanels' style she can make a simple dress look AMAZING, she just has a down to earth style which I like about her she isn't even bothered about labels.

My week In Pictures #2

Here is my second week in pictures, they were mostly taken during my trip to Birmingham yesterday where I bought the remaining items for my give-away including the bathbomb from lush I am super excited to send it to somebody, it looks so cute in a box with pretty pink tissue paper kind of wishing I was keeping it all for myself! BUT NO. Bad Jess.  Below is the cake which I made for my boyfriend as you can tell it's not the best but it's the though that counts hey?

So I have no idea what on earth made somebody want to make this book but it is so hilarious, when I took a look inside of the book there was a fair few funny places for you to poke with your .. penis. Weird hey?

My trip to Birmingham happened to fall on the Bullrings' tenth birthday which meant everything was ten times brighter and covered in balloons and ribbon! I've got to admit the bulls makeover is pretty cute!

Okay so when I was in leeds a few weeks ago a saw these erasers and I loved them and ended up buying a fair few and then when I saw them yesterday again.. you will never guess what I did? Oh yes I now own 5 more of these super cute rubbers! I am obsessed with cute stuff and erasers so.. win win.

And I ended my trip with a trip to the Krispy Kreme factory in selfridges, I went to order A donut and something weird happened.. I ended up saying can I order a custom dozen, I have no idea why but I didn't say i'd made a mistake oh no, I had the dozen- yes I spent £10.95 on donuts! I was so shocked after, but I was very popular to say the least yesterday haha!
So how many of you have been to birmingham? Or what is the nearest place to you which you go for a good ole shop? Would love to know your thoughts and feedback!

Peace out,
Jess

Book Review- Undone Cat Clarke.

Cat Clarke- Undone Rating:5/5 No picture as I bought the book on my kindle!

I'd like to start this review by saying best book I have ever read, I was just interested from start to end and I could not put the book down- the countless nights in the last few weeks I've stayed up reading once I started I found it hard to leave the book alone, it is like nothing I have ever read before. I had a rough idea of the outline of the story because of what my friend who recommended the book to me told me whilst explaining why I would like it, but it was beyond my expectations!

The story entails a boy and a girl best friends for their entire lives and something happens to the boy which makes him take his own life, the girl cannot come to terms with it and she MUST find out who did the evil thing who made him take his own life, she is led down the path to believe it is the popular people at school whose fault it is and befriends them all to mess with their heads, but along the line she falls in love and it ends with a shocking twist which you are NOT expecting.

I'll tell you the book was like a roller coaster from start to finish it had me grinning and bawling my eyes out within a few pages you really connect with the book you feel like you are there with the girl as she goes through this hell of a ride to find out why her best friend kills himself. The book has many sensitive topics in such as suicide, rape, sexuality, bullying and just life at high school which most of you know is one of the hardest things to go through if you are not in the "it" crowd. But Cat Clarke explores the issues in a way which teenagers can relate to and think hey i'm not alone. You definitely connect with the main character on another level you are in her head, you feel a part of her life with her going through this journey from start to end and that is what makes this book so jaw droppingly amazing.

I'd rate this book 5/5 stars as it is like nothing I have ever read before and is written in such a way that I and other young people can relate to and I could not put the book down it was taking over my life- always a good thing in my eyes. I would recommend this book to anybody who after a good young adult read about the struggles of teenage life- Truly amazing Cat Clarke!

The Healthiest Chips Around!

I've been trying to loose weight for some time now and I find this hard because I love the unhealthy things in life! So when I found the recipe for low calorie chips at around 110 calories a serving I was over the moon! The best thing about them is that they taste like they've been in a deep fat fryer, for a lifestyle themed post I decided to share this with you.

You will need:
3/4 fairly decent sized potatoes (per serving)
A bottle of fry light- ONE CALORIE PER SPRAY!
Salt and Vinegar (optional)

Step 1:
Pre heat the oven to about 220 or 180 if you have a fan assisted oven, then put a pan of water on to boil then you get your potatoes and peel them, chop them into 1/2 inch strips- the size is your choice, the thicker the better!

Step 2:
Place the strips of potato into boiling water for 4-5 minutes when the time is up you need to drain the potatoes then shake them about in the pan this gives them the "roughness" that you get with chips.

Step 3:
Tip the chips onto a baking try and cover them with fry light which is okay because it is only one calorie per spray it is my saviour! Pop them in the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes!

Step 4:
When the chips are looking brown and crisp they are ready woo! Take them out of the oven whilst they're still fresh coat them in salt and vinegar and SHABAM! You have a plate of fresh delicious low calorie chips!
